From "Goo-Goo, Ga-Ga" To "Whaaahhh" In Two Years

After all we've been through, you'd know a few temper-tantrums and "terrible-twos" behavior is nothing too difficult for us to handle.

Our little blondie, Rose-Marie Faith, the baby of our family, just turned two on February 26, 2009. She has been in the "two" stage for many months now. So it is almost comical now for Amanda and I to observe Rosie's theatrics. We have been through this, oh... three times already!

Poor Rosie, she doesn't get the full benefit of our attention whenever she decides to unveil her full repertoire of screams, dramatic gesturing, and floor wallowing. We've been there, darling. Been there, done that, and got the T-shirt, too!

By this time in our 11+ year marriage, we are aware that the best time for a tantrum is often at the worst time. For instance, at church, the
grocery store, the zoo or at the doctor's office. This, of course happens whenever we don't pick the right cereal, or tell her to stop climbing onto the stove, or say it is time to leave, and so on. She will try her best to bend her parents to her will, using any and all means.

Lately, Rosie's older sister, Mercy, is starting to phase out of her tantrums and practice some cold, hard reason. Mercy has finally realized that this communication thing is way to go; the way that most big people get things done.

Rosie, on the other hand, doesn't see things this way. In fact, just now I observed her in the throes of a very drawn-out tantrum. She
was informed it was bed-time, and proceeded to do her thing. Since the living room floor was too cluttered for floor wallowing, she searched
for a more open space! She found her stage on the kitchen floor and went ahead with the performance. :)

So Rosie will continue in the old ways of doing things, at least for now. But I think her parents act differently than we did with her older
siblings. This too, shall pass. More on this later...
